SUPPORT COORDINATION
Your guide through the NDIS, from everyday plan tasks to complex, multi-provider support for level 2 & 3).
Level 1 & 2 Support Coordination
Understanding and using your NDIS plan shouldn't feel like a part-time job. Our support coordinators work alongside you to turn your plan into real, working support — connecting you with the right providers, handling the admin, and staying in your corner for as long as you need us.
Level 1 & 2
What is Support Coordination?
Life’s richness often lies in the small, everyday experiences. From a relaxing morning ritual to a spontaneous conversation with a Support coordination is a funded support (usually sitting under Capacity Building in your plan) that helps you understand your NDIS plan, connect with the right providers and services, and build the confidence and skills to manage more of it yourself over time., these moments contribute significantly to your overall well-being. By appreciating and savoring these daily experiences, you can find greater joy and satisfaction in life.
Level 1
Support Connection: lighter-touch support that helps you connect with informal, community and funded supports to get the most out of your plan.
Level 2
Support Coordination: more involved support to help you understand, implement and use your plan, choose providers, and build your capacity to manage it over time. This is what most participants mean when they refer to "having a support coordinator."
Level 3
If your situation is more complex or higher-risk, you may need Level 3 — Specialist Support Coordination instead. Visit our dedicated Specialist Support Coordination page for details.
A good Level 1 or 2 support coordinator:
- Explains your plan in plain language, not NDIS jargon
- Connects you with support workers, allied health, SIL providers and other services that genuinely suit your goals, culture and personality
- Handles service agreements and provider onboarding, so you're not managing every relationship from scratch
- Steps in when something isn't working — a mismatched provider, a change in circumstances, a service that isn't fitting with your needs
- Tracks what's working (and what isn't) so your next plan review reflects your actual life
Who Support Coordination is for
Support coordination suits participants and families who want a genuine partner in navigating their plan — whether you're brand new to the NDIS, feeling overwhelmed by the admin, unhappy with your current supports, or simply want someone in your corner who knows your whole picture. It's for people who want to build their own confidence with the system, not hand over control of it.
If you're not sure whether you have support coordination funded in your plan, or whether you need Specialist Support Coordination instead, our team can talk you through it — see our Specialist Support Coordination page if your situation involves more complexity.

Frequently asked questions
What is the difference between Support Coordination levels?
Support Coordination (Level 2) helps most participants understand and use their plan day to day. Specialist Support Coordination (Level 3) is for participants with more complex situations — multiple services, higher risk, or significant barriers to accessing support — and is delivered by a coordinator with additional specialist expertise.
Do I need a diagnosis to get support coordination in my plan?
No — support coordination is allocated based on need and complexity, not diagnosis, and is requested at your planning meeting or plan review.
Will my support coordinator choose my other providers for me?
No — your coordinator helps you understand your options and connects you with providers that fit, but you keep choice and control over who you use.
Can I change support coordinators if it's not the right fit?
Yes. You're free to change providers at any time, and a good coordinator will support that transition because their priority will always remain your well being.
Does support coordination cost me anything extra?
No — it's funded through your NDIS plan under Capacity Building, at no additional cost to you.
How much support coordination will I get?
This depends on your plan and is agreed with the NDIS based on your circumstances — your coordinator can help you understand what's currently funded and whether it needs adjusting at your next review.
What does a support Coordinator Actually do?
It's one of the most searched questions in the NDIS space, and for good reason — "support coordination" is a funded category most participants have heard of, but few are told exactly what it involves until they're already using it.
