NDIS Specialist Support Coordination (Levels 3)
Extra expertise for complex situations, when your support system needs more than day-to-day coordination.
Some situations need more than general coordination: several services that aren't working together, higher risk, or a support system that has stopped holding. Our Specialist Support Coordinators bring the extra experience to untangle it, build a plan everyone can work from, and stay involved while things settle.
Level 3
What is Specialist Support Coordination?
Specialist Support Coordination is Level 3 support coordination. It's a higher level of funding and expertise for participants whose situations are more complex or carry more risk than general Support Coordination (Levels 1 and 2) is built for.
It focuses on:- Bringing behaviour support, allied health, daily support, family and informal supports into one shared, current plan- Managing higher-risk situations, such as a support breakdown, complex behaviours of concern, or a crisis in your support arrangements- Building processes that hold under pressure, not just relying on goodwill- Working alongside your behaviour support practitioner and allied health team so support is clinically informed
If your needs are more day-to-day, our Support Coordination page (Levels 1 and 2) is the right place to start.

Frequently asked questions
What is the difference between Support Coordination levels?
Support Coordination (Levels 1 and 2) helps most participants understand and use their plan day to day. Specialist Support Coordination (Level 3) is for more complex or higher-risk situations and is delivered by a coordinator with additional specialist expertise.
How do I know if I need Specialist Support Coordination?
Common signs include several services that need to align, a recent breakdown in support, significant behaviours of concern, or a level of risk that general coordination isn't equipped to manage. Your planner, current coordinator or our team can help you work it out.
Is Specialist Support Coordination funded separately?
Yes. It is a distinct line in your NDIS plan and is requested and justified separately, usually with input from your planner or a relevant health professional. We can help you gather the evidence.
Will a Specialist Support Coordinator replace my behaviour support practitioner or therapist?
No. They work alongside your existing team and coordinate between services. They don't replace any of them.
Can I change coordinators if it isn't the right fit?
Yes. You have full choice and control over your providers, and we'll make any switch as smooth as possible.
What happens once things stabilise?
As risk and complexity reduce, some participants move back to Level 2 Support Coordination. We'll raise this with you at reviews, and it's always your decision.
